Q: What is NyloDeck made of?
A: NyloDeck combines recycled carpet fibers with VOC-Free resins and proprietary structural components to produce The state-of-the-art composite decking.
No Wood. No PVC. No Worries.

Q: Does NyloDeck contain any wood, cellulose, or plant fibers?
A: NO, NyloDeck doesn’t contain any plant based fiber which can often lead to issues with moisture, mildew, mold, termites, stains, and swelling.

Q: Does NyloDeck contain any PVC?
A: NO, NyloDeck doesn’t contain PVC and is made using recycled carpet fiber so not only is it durable and lightweight it’s also green.

Q: Why is NyloDeck considered to be environmentally friendly?
A: NyloDeck was selected as one of the top 10 Green Building Products of 2010 by
Building Green. It is part of Nyloboard’s mission to help stop the waste stream of
carpet fiber that currently contributes billions of pounds to landfills each year and use it
to create superior products.

Q: Can NyloDeck contribute towards points for LEED rating systems?
A: YES, it can contribute towards points for Environmentally Preferable Products in the
areas of recycled content and locally harvested materials.

Q: Will it absorb water?
A: NO, NyloDeck is impervious to moisture. In fact our material will even float. Remember that NyloDeck is made from Nyloboard which has been subjected to the rigors of the marine environment for years. Due to its strength, imperviousness to water, and screw retention it has been used in transoms, hulls, floors, bulkheads, and consoles by the top boat manufactures in the US and Canada.

Q: Will it grow mold or mildew?
A: NO, there is no wood or plant fiber to promote the growth of mold and mildew. Keep in mind that dirt
build-up on any surface can support the growth of mold or mildew so it is important to periodically clean your deck.

Q: Will termites damage NyloDeck?
A: NO, since NyloDeck does not contain any wood or plant fiber there is nothing for
termites to eat.

Q: Will NyloDeck delaminate?
A: NO, unlike a lot of composite decking NyloDeck does not have a cap-stock. All the
materials are combined in a monolithic step.

Q: How much does NyloDeck weigh per linear foot?
A: It weighs approximately 1.39 lbs/LF which is much lighter and a lot less work to handle than traditional wood-plastic composite decking.

Q: What colors are available in NyloDeck?
A: NyloDeck is available in 3 colors; Caramel, American Gray, and Cocoa

Q: Is the color throughout the material?
A: YES, this feature helps make our product more durable.

Q: Will the color change or fade?
A: No decking material is 100% fade proof. With NyloDeck, color variation is a design
feature we use to enhance the natural appearance of our board. We build in a UV
resistance process to minimize fade.

Q: How do I get stains out?
A: NyloDeck is highly resistant to stains from a variety of items including red wine and
food. If something is spilled on your NyloDeck deck, promptly clean with water and a
mild household cleaner and/or mild degreaser.

Q: Can I use sandpaper to remove stains?
A: NO, using sandpaper will damage the surface of NyloDeck.

Q: Will the water from our swimming pool damage the material?
A: NO, NyloDeck will perform well around pools and hot tubs.

Q: Should I paint / stain / water seal NyloDeck?
A: NO, NyloDeck is a pre-finished decking.

Q: What is the length of the warranty?
A: The limited residential warranty is 25 years and the limited commercial warranty is
ten years. Please see the warranty section of our website for complete
details.

Q: Is the warranty prorated and is it transferable?
A: NO, the warranty is not prorated. The warranty is to the original purchaser.

Q: Does NyloDeck expand in the heat of the summer or contract in the
cold of winter?
A: Like all deck materials NyloDeck does expand and contract however, NyloDeck has the best thermal expansion rating of any composite. Review our test results and follow the installation guidelines located in the NyloDeck section of our website.

Q: What spacing is required between the boards?
A: Minimum gap of 1/8” side to side and 1/16” end to end. Follow the installation
guidelines in the NyloDeck section of our website.

Q: Is NyloDeck structural?
A: NO, NyloDeck is intended for use as a deck flooring board.

Q: How far can NyloDeck span for residential applications?
A: NyloDeck can span 24” on center perpendicular to joists. Refer to installation
instructions and local building codes or regulations.

Q: Can I cantilever / overhang NyloDeck past the edge of my deck or dock?
A: The maximum overhang is 1-1/2” beyond the deck or dock.

Q: How do I cover the sides of the deck or dock structural framing?
A: Matching NyloDeck skirt board (1/2” x 11-1/4” x 12’) can be ripped to size and attached to provide a finished look to your deck or dock.

Q: Are there any special tools required?
A: NO, NyloDeck can be sawn, routed, drilled, or nailed using conventional wood-working tools.

Q: Can I use a router on NyloDeck?
A: YES, you can router the sides of NyloDeck for hidden fasteners or when ripping boards down to a narrower width.

Q: How do I fasten NyloDeck?
A: NyloDeck can be attached using nails, screws or one of the many industry leading
hidden fastener systems available. The type and method of installation is the choice
of the builder or homeowner. Follow the installation guidelines on our website.

Q: How close to the end or edge of NyloDeck can surface applied fasteners
be placed?
A: Screws should be installed a minimum of 1/2” from the end or edge of the board.

Q: Do I need to drill a pilot hole before fastening?
A: NO, unlike most composite boards, there is no need to pre-drill NyloDeck.

Q: Does NyloDeck have a grooved edge option for hidden fasteners?
A: YES, NyloDeck is available with a grooved edge that works with a number of industry leading hidden fastener systems.

Q: Do I have to buy hidden fasteners from NyloDeck?
A: NO, unlike a lot of competitor’s products, NyloDeck allows the customer to choose the appropriate hidden fastener system for their application.

Q: Does NyloDeck meet the minimum ADA slip resistant guidelines?
A: YES, it exceeds the guidelines. See the test results in the specification section on our
website.

Q: What sizes and profiles are available in NyloDeck?
A: Nominal 1” x 5-1/2” x 12’, 16’, and 20’ lengths. 24’ lengths are available.
Matching skirt board: 1/2" x 11-1/4” x 12’.

Q: What quantity of NyloDeck comes in a bundle of each length?
A: 12’ boards are (48) to a bundle 8 wide x 6 high.
16’ boards are (96) to a bundle 8 wide x 12 high.
